Track Trailer

Track Trailer is an iconic Australian off-road camper manufacturer founded in 1985 by Alan Mawson in Melbourne, best known for the Tvan — the original hard-top hybrid camper trailer that set the benchmark for compact off-road touring when it launched in 1999. Built around their military-grade MC2 suspension system originally developed for the Australian Army, Track's range spans the entry-level Tvan Inspire through to the expedition-grade T4 Series 2, all manufactured at their Bayswater North facility. The brand emerged from voluntary administration in September 2024 under new private ownership, continuing over 40 years of Australian manufacturing.

What Owners Love

  • + Outstanding MC2 suspension — widely regarded as the best off-road suspension in the camper trailer market
  • + Exceptional towing dynamics — lightweight, stable, and effortless behind most 4WDs
  • + Clever compact design with quick setup/packdown under 10 minutes
  • + Genuine go-anywhere off-road capability proven over decades in the outback
  • + Strong owner community and passionate brand loyalty

Common Concerns

  • Poor customer service and slow responses to warranty claims, especially post-administration
  • Quality control issues on recent builds — hub overheating, water leaks, deck cracking
  • Limited internal storage and cramped cabin compared to competitors at same price
  • Ventilation issues in hot climates — insufficient airflow with only two small vents
  • Premium pricing that many feel is not justified given reported build quality inconsistencies
