About Alpine Campers

Background

Alpine Campers was founded by industry veteran Brian Johnston, who has over 30 years of experience in the camper industry. Based on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, the company grew from Brian’s personal desire to craft the ideal camper after circumnavigating Australia. He wanted a camper that could venture off-grid without sacrificing home comforts, and this vision evolved from renting out his own luxury off-road camper to manufacturing the Alpine hybrid caravan range.

The Alpine 13 hybrid camper was entered in the Camper Trailer of the Year 2022 competition.

Ownership & Structure

Founder-owned and operated by Brian Johnston, with Carolyn Johnston also involved in the business. The company operates from its Sunshine Coast, Queensland base (Kunda Park area). Alpine has expanded from camper trailers into full caravans with the Alpine Campers and Caravans range.

Manufacturing

Chassis, body, and cabinetry are crafted at Alpine’s Sunshine Coast workshop. The key construction method is lightweight structural composite construction, which provides strength, safety, and easier towing. The Alpine 13 has a tare weight of approximately 1,700kg.

Market Position

Mid-range to premium hybrid camper and caravan segment. Their key differentiators are lightweight construction, off-grid capability, and premium standard inclusions. The range spans from compact campers (Alpine 13) to family-sized caravans (Alpine 16 Family).
