About Australian Off Road
Background
Australian Off Road (AOR) was founded in 2000 by Steve Budden. Starting from his garage as a one-man operation, Steve designed the Odyssey, which won Camper Trailer of the Year in 2011.
AOR celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2025 and has grown from Steve’s garage to a 120-strong workforce operating from a purpose-built factory and showroom plus two additional factories covering 8,500m2 on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland.
Ownership & Structure
Founded and led by Steve Budden. The company operates from its Caloundra, Queensland base (39 Ron Parkinson Crescent). AOR sells direct from the factory showroom and through selected dealers. The company maintains an active community program encouraging owners to explore off the beaten track.
Manufacturing
All manufacturing occurs on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland across three factory buildings totalling 8,500m2. Key construction features include 100% dust-proof designs with sealed fridge and heater vents, fully steel-shrouded water tanks, full independent suspension with dual shock absorber assemblies, and heavy-duty build throughout. AOR reports trailers that have completed over 200,000km of off-road travel still going strong.
Market Position
Premium off-road camper trailer and caravan segment. AOR products command some of the highest residual resale values in the industry. The range includes hybrid campers, pop-tops, and full-height caravans across the Series 5 lineup.
