About Bruder
Background
Bruder (now branded BruderX) was founded by brothers Dan and Toby Bosschieter. Their father was a pilot in Northern Australia who took them on trips to the Kimberley, Top End, and Cape York from as young as six weeks old. Both brothers had successful careers with top off-road trailer manufacturers before selling their previous business in 2014 and setting off on an extended family road trip. In 2015, they designed and built the first EXP-6 prototype, a rugged dual-axle expedition trailer.
Top Gear, Expedition Portal and overlanding publications have featured Bruder trailers. Expedition Portal stated “Their only goal was to build the ultimate trailer, and in many ways, they’ve done just that.”
Ownership & Structure
Privately owned by the Bosschieter brothers. The company rebranded from Bruder to BruderX. They sell direct and through a small number of authorised dealers. Bruder also exports globally with trailers in use across Angola, Mongolia, USA, South America, Armenia, Iceland, the Middle East, and Europe.
Manufacturing
Manufactured across two sites in Brisbane, Queensland. Construction emphasises extreme durability with features like 100% dust-proof sealed compartments, military-grade suspension, and premium componentry. The EXP range includes the EXP-4 (compact single-axle), EXP-6 (dual-axle hybrid), EXP-7 (off-road camper with 12 inches of wheel travel via air suspension), EXP-8 (full-height caravan), and the newest EXP-10.
Market Position
Ultra-premium expedition/overlanding segment. Pricing ranges from approximately $76,500 for the EXP-4 to over $200,000 for larger models. They occupy a niche that bridges expedition trailers and luxury caravans, attracting buyers who want go-anywhere capability with premium amenity.
