About Hardkorr Campers

Background

Hardkorr Campers was born from a campfire conversation between three mates on their way to Cape York. Tony Taylor from Austyle Campers and Kirk Buckley and Cameron Cross from Korr Lighting spent years brainstorming and refining what would become the Hardkorr Camper. After roughly six years of development and thousands of hours of work, the Queensland-based company brought their vision to life. The brand launched around 2015 and builds camper trailers and caravans.

Hardkorr is in a unique position in the market because Korr Lighting — the parent brand — manufactures its own batteries, inverters, solar panels, and LED lighting systems. This means every Hardkorr camper features a complete and complementary electrical ecosystem, all designed and built in-house. The Bushmaster X was named a Camper of the Year 2021 Finalist.

Ownership & Structure

Hardkorr Campers is an offshoot of Korr Lighting (now branded as HARDKORR), which manufactures camping and vehicle electrical accessories. The company is based at Stapylton in Brisbane’s south, Queensland. The brand represents the convergence of Tony Taylor’s camper-building expertise and the Korr Lighting team’s electrical engineering capabilities.

Manufacturing

Hardkorr campers are manufactured in Queensland. The company’s key advantage is vertical integration — because they make their own electrical components (lighting, batteries, inverters, solar), they can ensure all systems work together seamlessly. Campers feature robust off-road construction designed for Australian conditions. The company produces a range from compact camper trailers through to larger caravans, all with a focus on off-road and off-grid capability.

Market Position

Hardkorr sits in the affordable-to-mid-range off-road camper trailer segment, with fully-equipped off-road, off-grid campers starting from around $30,000. This represents strong value given the standard inclusions. The Xplorer work/camp trailer also targets the tradie/touring crossover market.
