About Kedron Caravans

Background

Kedron Caravans is Australia’s longest-established caravan manufacturer, founded in 1962 by Barry Gall. The company has been continuously owned and operated by the Gall family for over 60 years, with sons David, Peter, Ashley, and Glen — along with a third generation — all involved in the business. The company is named after the Brisbane suburb of Kedron where the original showroom was located.

From the 1990s onwards, Kedron pioneered documented off-road caravan testing, sending vans through Australia’s most demanding terrain including the Kimberley, Cape York, and the Canning Stock Route. These expeditions are known as the “Gall Boys Adventures.”

Ownership & Structure

Kedron is a private, family-owned business — still run by the Gall family. There are no parent companies or corporate investors. The showroom remains in Kedron, Brisbane, with the factory located in Brendale, also in Brisbane’s north. The Kedron Owners Group Inc. is a formal incorporated club with its own website (kedronownersgroup.com) and forum, separate from the company itself.

Manufacturing

All Kedron caravans are built in-house at the Brendale factory in Brisbane, Queensland. The company is known for heavy-duty construction with a focus on structural integrity for off-road use. Kedron emphasises engineering rigour, with both field testing and laboratory certification used to validate designs. Their approach is to over-engineer rather than cut corners, which contributes to the premium pricing. Production volumes are modest compared to mass-market manufacturers, allowing more hands-on quality control.

Market Position

Kedron sits firmly in the premium off-road touring segment. Key models include the TopEnder and the ATV (All Terrain Vehicle) series. Buyers typically choose Kedron for long-term reliability and the assurance that the manufacturer will still be around to support them.
