About Mountain Trail RV
Background
Mountain Trail RV was established in 2007 in Albury, NSW as an engineering business by Nick Edwards and his wife Heidi. The founders set out to use raw materials and CNC machinery to build campers and caravans light enough for Australian tow vehicles.
The company has achieved significant milestones: in 2016, the EDX V1 won the Camper Trailer of the Year Award, and the Hybrid CXV 3.7 won the 2018 Camper Trailer of the Year Award. 2025 marks their 19th year of manufacturing. The company has grown to over 70 staff, multiple production lines, and produces 10 different models.
Ownership & Structure
Mountain Trail RV is privately owned, founded by Nick and Heidi Edwards. The company remains based in Albury and has expanded with a Queensland presence (Mountain Trail RV QLD).
Manufacturing
Mountain Trail’s manufacturing is distinctive in the Australian caravan industry. They use laser-cut and CNC-pressed aluminium sheet metal for joinery, secured with structural rivets, bolts, and glues. This eliminates timber and wood screws entirely — all components are bolted in place to ensure they won’t move over the life of the caravan. The company makes most components in-house across four factories in the Albury industrial area.
Market Position
Mountain Trail sits firmly in the premium off-road and off-grid caravan segment. The LXV range is priced from approximately $170,000.
