About Van Cruiser Caravans

Background

Van Cruiser Caravans was founded by Enzo Gnocato, who started as an apprentice cabinet maker and fuelled his love for the outdoors while working at Ray’s Tent City under Paul Golding. After 12 years in the hospitality industry, Enzo turned his passion for caravanning into a business. In 2008 he built his own pop-top caravan, which the family used for 12 months. Seeing the potential, Enzo and his wife Chrissy launched Van Cruiser around 2010.

Van Cruiser was an early mover in the hybrid caravan-camper market, also experimenting with sporty teardrop campers and innovative dust-proofing systems. The brand led the pack with brightly coloured bodywork, waterfall benchtops, and protective branch bars. Van Cruiser currently builds around 150 units per year.

Ownership & Structure

Family-owned and operated. The business is run by brother and sister team Enzo and Tania Gnocato with a tight crew of 15 to 20 employees. There are no parent companies or corporate ownership — it remains a hands-on family operation.

Manufacturing

Built at their factory in Carrum Downs, a Melbourne suburb, producing approximately three caravans per week. The five-model HTO (Heavy Terrain Outback) line-up spans 14ft to 17ft body lengths. Van Cruiser uses premium chassis suppliers, advanced suspension systems, one-piece plywood flooring, insulated frames, and custom power solutions for off-grid capability.

Market Position

Mid-range off-road specialist. Van Cruiser identified a niche market early for hardcore single-axle off-road models and has built a strong following by sticking mainly to this style. The focus on robust, compact vans differentiates them from larger manufacturers targeting the touring segment.
